Jamaica has recorded some unique characteristics in health care delivery outcomes over the past thirty years. These are reflected in health indices such as life expectancies which are comparable with developed countries of the EU, notwithstanding the fact that the country is lacking in all categories of resources. However, the most prominent characteristic of the Jamaican health sector is evident when comparing cost per capita expenditure of health care in Jamaica and the cost per capita expenditure in developed countries with the outcomes of life expectancies of males and females.
